GC Amicitia entstand 2010 aus der Fusion von ZMC Amicitia und der GC-Handballsektion. Mit rund 900 Mitgliedern war es der grösste Handballverein der Schweiz. Die Männerabteilung ging im Juni 2025 in Konkurs; das Frauenteam spielt weiterhin in der SPAR Premium League. Der Verein gewann u.a. 5 Schweizer Meistertitel und den Cup 2022.
